Hi to all of our new readers! My sister (Justine) and I (Jillian) are excited to share our new venture with you! Our new business, Sing First!, LLC is based on First Steps in Music, a curriculum created by the esteemed Dr. John Feierabend. This week we were blessed to train with one of the best, Connie Greenwood of Greenwood Music Services and I wanted to share our experience with you in hopes that it will be the beginning of a beautiful blogging friendship!!
First, we have to say thank you to our wonderful husbands and families for supporting us and holding things together back home so that we could travel to Hartford Connecticut to train for 4 days! It’s not easy for us mommies to be gone! (Let’s not lie…. it was definitely a mini vacation for us. You know what we’re talking about moms!!)
Back to the training, Connie brought together 9 very creative and different people who each had such a love for children and music. She fearlessly led the training with an impressive amount of joy and child-like wonder! It was CONTAGIOUS! Before we knew it, the room was full of singing, dancing, and giggles! Justine and I kept commenting on how fast the days were going and how not only were our brains filled but our hearts and souls as well.
We learned the theories behind First Steps and how not only to implement them for babies up to 7 year olds but how to truly create a community using this beautiful program!
Beside classes we were lucky enough to stumble upon 2 outdoor concerts, a women’s a cappella ensemble and a swing band. Music is life! And it was fully alive in West Hartford Connecticut. We even got to stop in at the beautiful Hartt School! We spent some quality sister time together and caught up on some bad movies that spoke to our childhood (Power Rangers, I’m talking about you).
We are so excited to start building a new musical culture here in Woodstock Georgia through Sing First!
